What causes the writing.

For most of the semester, I as a student never really worried about exigence because for me the exigence was that the professor asked me to write the assignment so I can get a passing grade in the class. The only time exigence was considered was when deciding on a topic to write about, the topics I chose were based on personal interest and what I felt like I could comfortably write about.
